Japanese Seiyu names found in Taiwanese version of Pocky! Heaven Burns Red Collaboration
In honor of Pocky & Pritz Day on November 11, we introduce a collaboration product found in Taiwan between the Japanese game application “Heaven Burns Red” and Pocky-like snacks.
This case study examines the popularity of Japanese character content and voice actors in Taiwan!
We report on how Japanese voice actor culture has penetrated overseas, including the use of traditional Chinese characters for the names of voice actors on the packaging and the high name value of voice actors found in the Taipei Station underground shopping mall.
Taiwanese version of Pocky in collaboration with Heaven Burns Red (緋染天空)

On a recent visit to Taiwan, McDonald’s had a collaboration with “HUNTER✕HUNTER” and there were Sanrio products such as “Kitty-chan” and goods such as “Crayon Shinchan” and “Chiikawa” everywhere. This shows the popularity of Japanese character content in Taiwan.
Stopping by convenience stores and supermarkets, we found products collaborating with ” Heaven Burns Red”, a game application distributed by WFS Co!
It is a Pocky-like candy called “CITY NO.1 城市一族” from a manufacturer called Arita Confectionery.

I could see that Heaven Burns Red is popular in Taiwan to the extent that they are developing collaboration products, but since the names of Japanese voice actors were also well written, I felt again that the recognition of Japanese voice actors and the popularity of voice actors in Taiwan is spreading.
I was also reminded once again of the name conversion!
Those who originally had kanji names were basically left as they were, but some voice actors with hiragana names had their kanji written in traditional Chinese characters, or some of them were converted to different kanji.
On the official Heaven Burns Red website, we compared the Japanese version and the Traditional Chinese version, and listed those with different notations!

There are some differences in the notation of the voice actors’ names between the Japanese and Traditional Chinese versions, such as hiragana and katakana being changed to kanji, “亜” becoming “亞”, “恋” becoming “戀”, and “桜” becoming “櫻”.
You can also feel the name value of the voice actors in the Taipei Station Underground Mall!
The Taipei Station underground mall was just like Akihabara or Nakano Broadway, with stores selling figurines, character goods, and Gashapon. It was impressive that there were also ichiban kuji raffles and other such items.
There was also a hanging advertisement for FGO in the aisle, and I saw the names of the voice actors there as well.
Also, Japanese voice actors could be seen in a video advertisement for ” Brown Dust 2″ (棕色塵塵2), which is operated by Neowiz, a Korean game maker. Not only Japanese games, but also foreign games are being expanded to other countries with Japanese voice actors.
Even though the text in the games is translated into Traditional Chinese, the voice acting voices are used as is, without being dubbed by local voice actors.
The voices and names of Japanese voice actors are steadily spreading outside of Japan, and this experience report was a reminder of the high name value of Japanese voice actors.
